🍇 Short Story (100–120 words)
One hot summer day, a hungry fox was wandering in search of food. Soon he saw a bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine. His mouth watered and he jumped to get them. But the grapes were too high. He tried again and again but failed every time. At last, he became tired and gave up. While walking away, he muttered, “Those grapes are probably sour. I don’t want them.” In this way, the fox tried to hide his failure by blaming the grapes.
Moral: It is easy to despise what we cannot get.
🍇 Long Story (250–300 words)
Once upon a time, in a forest, a hungry fox was roaming here and there in search of food. It was a hot summer day, and the fox had not eaten anything since morning. While wandering, he saw a garden full of grapevines. His eyes sparkled with joy when he noticed a bunch of juicy grapes hanging from a branch.
The fox licked his lips and said to himself, “What delicious grapes! I must have them.” He jumped high to catch the bunch but could not reach it. He tried again with all his strength but failed once more. The grapes were hanging too high. He tried several times, running back and leaping forward, but all in vain.
At last, the poor fox became very tired. He sat down for a moment, breathing heavily. Then he stood up and walked away, saying, “Oh, these grapes are sour. I don’t need them.” In reality, the fox wanted the grapes badly, but since he could not get them, he pretended that he did not want them.
This story shows how people often criticize what they cannot achieve. Instead of admitting their weakness, they find excuses to hide their failure.
Moral: It is easy to despise what we cannot get.
